Bible Study Hour
Start @ 9:00 am
Introduction
Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church holds We believe the Bible to be God’s infallible, inerrant, Holy Word to man. We believe it to be authoritative on any and all issues it touches, including history, science and the cosmos, to the extent to which it speaks. We believe the Bible to be the source of absolute truth whereby our beliefs, morals, and laws should be based. This means that on both a corporate and personal level, when we see a difference between our thinking, attitudes, or actions and God’s Word, we must change to be obedient to God. Each Sunday, we gather to engage in thoughtful discussions on what the Bible teaches through Bible studies and literature related to matters of faith. This is an opportunity to connect with others and grow spiritually. Unlike the worship service, these sessions offer a more interactive environment, allowing a more profound experience with believers for the Glory of God.
Classes
Understanding Suffering
Co-leaders: Rick Barber & Josh Morris, We all know that although we have eternal hope as believers in Christ, for now we live in a sinful, broken world, and the sufferings of this age can bring
tremendous challenge to our faith. This Class will challenge participants to seek God’s word for encouragement to live by and embrace God’s truths and promises as we learn to suffer well to God’s glory.
Life Stewardship
Co-leaders: Jeff Case & John Kelly. It’s easy in our culture to compartmentalize our faith and wrongly assume that things like our money, health, time, and skills are somehow unrelated to our spiritual life. The Life Stewardship Class will help participants to think Biblically about all the things God’s given us—and see God’s purposes for them. Participants will dive into scripture to see how we’re to use what God gives us and the dangers to avoid as we seek to use all we are and have for God’s glory.
2 Timothy
Co-leaders: Doug Fields & Rich Schaal. This Bible Study Class includes daily homework, using the Grace Bible Church, College Station Texas, curriculum which is designed to
assist participants in learning to study, interpret and apply Biblical truth. The 2 Timothy class will study Paul’s letter to a young pastor
Timothy and then discuss what we’ve learned about Paul’s exhortations to Timothy to embrace sound doctrine, promote good works, and accept suffering for the sake of the gospel.
Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi
Co-leaders: David Fields & Rory Mauschbaugh. This Bible Study Class will guide participants through scripture but not require daily homework. The three Old Testament books studied, known as postexilic prophets, will encourage students to discover themes about God’s faithfulness to God’s people in the Old Testament as they went through some difficult times. This study will help students grasp timeless truths about living by faith in seasons of doubt and discouragement.

More Details
The Bible study session begins at 9:00 am. During this time, our attention is centered on a specific book or subject within the Bible. Our purpose in studying the scriptures is to enhance our understanding and relationship with God and others. The goal is to cultivate both our intellect and our emotions, enabling us to glorify God.
“that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
— Ephesians 3:16-19
